Along with a rewarding, collaborative and flexible work environment, our interns and co-ops can expect a casual office environment and culture. We believe that everyone can make a contribution that has an impact, and we are committed to creating an environment in which the best people do their best work. That means fostering an environment characterized by respect for lifestyle, cultural and ethnic differences where varied talents, personal styles and innovative ideas contribute to a dynamic atmosphere.
At Sybase, you will find a work environment rich with diversity in which individual viewpoints are welcomed and encouraged. We don’t have a dress code, but we do expect all employees to dress appropriately. Most people wear business casual, and jeans are acceptable at most of our locations.
Sybase offers flexible hours because we believe that the highest levels of performance can only be attained when people have the freedom to create a work schedule that balances with their personal needs. Students work with their manager to set a schedule that meets both the needs of the student and the department.
During the work term managers are responsible for providing direction and support to students on projects, setting clear and achievable performance objectives to facilitate development, provide timelines and offer constructive feedback to students on an ongoing basis. Formal performance evaluations are also conducted as a way to provide focused feedback on students’ strengths as well as areas for improvement.
